Emerson Johnston

Emerson Johnston, from Los Angeles, California, is a Master’s Candidate in International Policy at the Stanford School of Humanities and Sciences and a Knight-Hennessy Scholar. She is a first-generation college student and graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University with dual bachelor’s degrees in politics, philosophy, and economics, and in history, culture, and law. She’s held positions at HUMAN Security and in the U.S. Army Reserve, has interned for the U.S. Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and now works full time in U.S. National Security as a Political Officer at the U.S. Department of State, a role she'll resume after she graduates from Stanford.
