Athena Chang

Athena is a senior and coterm from San Jose, California, studying mechanical engineering. As a huge outdoors and plane nerd, she discovered her passion in sustainability and defense tech and has worked in product strategy in those industries at Skydio, JPMorgan, Microsoft, and FATHOM5. On campus, Athena was selected as a 2023 Mayfield Fellow and currently researches lethal autonomous weapons systems policy with the Hoover Institution and munitions production/procurement with the Gordian Knot Center. She also led Air Force ROTC Det 045 as their Cadet Wing Commander and will serve in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot post-graduation. In her free time, Athena loves flying planes and tackling the outdoors. She has mountaineered Mt. Rainier and Mt. Baker and is setting sights on a ski-descent of Denali next!
